President's Message
February 2008

Mary Weir ... a sweetheart of South Bay , who for the last twenty years has been the core or hub of our Society.

Officers, bands and members have come and gone - the one constant was Mary. All these years membership data has been well kept, the South Bay Beat has gone out, and if you needed information about anything or anybody you could ask Mary. Always gracious, warm and smiling. She is our "National Treasure." We can't begin to thank her enough for all she has done for South Bay (and Gene too). The secret to her long years of service?? She loves the music, she loves the people and she loves being part of an organization dedicated to the preservation of Traditional Jazz. Mary told us at our January session that the membership data will be in good hands.

Bob Schulz' Frisco Jazz Band treated us to an afternoon of wonderful music. It didn't rain getting there or getting back home and it was all sunshine inside.

All you MUSIC lovers, come on down February 24,2008 to warm your hearts and FEET to the sweet sounds of the San Francisco Feetwarmers. Bring a sweetheart, or bring two!! Let the good times roll

Barbara Kinney

President, South Bay Traditional Jazz Society

By the way, if you have a need to jive on steady diet of 20's and 30's music try the Internet. Go to www.live365.com and find Radio Dismuke from Fort Worth , Texas (# 52 in the jazz category ) and Radio Ianhouse from our own Silicon Valley , California (see Sweet & Lovely, # 43 in the jazz category) and get ready for old dance music 24 hours a day, worldwide.
