FIRST JAZZ WORKSHOP

Hello to you all.  Here we go...our second "hands on, play the music" traditional jazz workshop sponsored by the South Bay Traditional Jazz Society.  It's official and on the calendar.


Date - Saturday, March 28, 2009

Time - Registration 11:30 a.m.    Class 12:00 p.m. to 2:00  p.m. (maybe later).

Cost - TBD for participating musicians.  Money benefits SBTJS directly.
          LISTENERS AND DANCERS WELCOME AT NO CHARGE TO ENJOY
          OUR HAPPY LIFT THE SPIRITS KIND OF MUSIC.

          (And we do expect an audience)


Location - Sunnyvale Senior center, corner od E. Remington Dr. and Manet Dr. (GET MAP)

Leader - Dick Williams, teacher of hundreds of traditional jazz musicians.

Benefit - For musicians, workshop experience playing classic, traditional
               (Dixieland) jazz, the original American musical art form born in
             New Orleans 100 years ago.

               For listeners and dancers, get re-connected with the upbeat music
               enjoyed years ago in the style of Louis Armstrong, Turn Murphy,
               Lu Watters and Bob Scobey...DIXIELAND FOR DANCING.

OVERVIEW


The Top Of The Hill Jazz Band has been actively going out and playing gigs on behafe of South Bay Traditional Jazz Society. This is not only a fform of advertising for SBTJS, but it's also another source of income for us. Jim Harget, Marj Scroos, and Ann Burgess are the key principals in making this happen, with Jim being the creator. Top Of The Hill Jazz Band has played at various events (2007 Saratoga Rotary Art Show, Camden Community Center, Scottish Rites Temple, 2007 San Jose Jazz festival, and on and on) and is made up of a huge pool of porfessional, semi-professional and amateur musicians, many of whom you have enjoied during our jam sets.

 

Top Of The Hill Jazz Band has been invited by the Fresno Dixieland Society to performas their featured band on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Club One, 1033 Van Ness, Fresno . We are inviting you to attend and support our band. Car pooling will be available, firsr come, first served. We will make every effort ti accomodate those who are willing to make the trip, but are not able to drive. On that note any one who is willing to drive should contact Marj Scroos at 408-254-8912.
